+  Heel spur (Osteophyte)
A commonly used term, heel spur is a calcium deposit build-up that develops on the underside of the heel bone due to constant strain by foot muscles and ligaments. Often associated with Plantar fasciitis. Symptoms are usually chronic pain when weight-bearing.

+  Plantar fasciitis
Most common type of heel pain that occurs from the overstrain of the plantar fascia on the bottom of foot, which in some cases by cause micro-tearing of the fascia. Symptoms can be significant pain noticed along the arch when weight-bearing.

+  Achilles tendinosis
Microtears that occur along the Achilles tendon due to overuse and insufficient stretching of the calves. Symptoms are usually inflammation and pain noticed at heel lift during gait.

-  Treatment
•  Custom made orthotics with focus on materials with high cushion properties to accommodate the spur

-  Treatment
•  Custom made orthotics with focus on solid arch support for plantar fascia
•  Active stretching and strengthening of the plantar fascia

-  Treatment
•  Custom made orthotics with heel lift to reduce the stretch on the tendon
•  Active stretching of the tendon to alleviate tightness

LOWER LEG CONDITIONS

+  Runner's Knee
A general term that represents a handful of conditions, which usually result from overuse. A common condition seen is misalignment due to flat feet.

-  Treatment
• Custom made orthotics to correct alignment
• Orthopaedic knee brace

+  ACL Injury
Occurs when the ACL ligament is overstretched or torn. There are various grades of sprain and is usually very painful.

-  Treatment (post-op, if necessary)
• Custom made orthopaedic knee brace
• Rehabilitation

+ Ankle Sprain
The most common injury in sports is the ankle sprain. The anterior tibiofibular ligament is usually the ligament that's affected from an "ankle roll". Severe swelling and inability to bear weight are common symptoms

-  Treatment (post-op, if necessary)
• Orthopaedic ankle brace
• Custom made orthotics
• Rehabilitation

+ Shin Splint
Repetitive, overuse of misaligned anterior lower leg muscles are often generalized as 'shin splints'. Symptoms include dull ache along the inner part of the lower leg usually after running.

-  Treatment
• Custom made orthotics to correct alignment
• Rehabilitation
• Massage Therapy

+  Spider and Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are large, raised, swollen blood vessels that twist and turn. Spider veins are smaller, red, purple, and blue vessels that are also twisting and turning, however they are easily visible through the skin as well. Varicose and spider veins occur due to a number of factors:
• Heredity
• Occupations that involve weight-bearing for long hours
• Obesity
• Hormonal influences
• Birth control use
• Blood clots
Common symptoms of the both conditions are aching or cramping, and tiredness in the legs. Other symptoms include burning, throbbing, or feeling heaviness in the legs as well.

+  Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Blood clot in a
deep vein, which sometimes can be life threatening depending on the location of it. Symptoms are similar to varicose and spider veins.

+  Edema
Basically a general response of the body to injury or inflammation, which is swelling. Symptoms are the feelings of heaviness in the legs and may interfere with gait.

- Treatment or Prevention
• Medical compression stockings
